| ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL SEARCH update: Dear Westorchard Community, After a thorough search process, I am prepared to recommend to the superintendent a candidate to become Westorchard’s new assistant principal. I should note that the quality of the candidates who applied for this position was quite strong. The finalists brought much strength to their candidacies and were well received by all stakeholder groups. I am delighted to inform you that I will be recommending Ms. Tammy Ghirardi as the new assistant principal of Westorchard School. For the past two years, Ms. Ghirardi has been an assistant principal at P.S. 158, The Bayard Taylor School in District 2 in New York City. Prior to becoming an administrator; she served as a math staff developer in that district. During her career as a teacher, Tammy taught a total of eleven years at the elementary level. Ms. Ghirardi earned a B.A. from SUNY Plattsburgh, an M.A. from Dowling College and an M.S. from Baruch College. Throughout the interview process, Tammy impressed the various stakeholders with her knowledge of teaching and learning, her experience and her understanding of our school community. Ms. Ghirardi will work with Mrs. Winter and me sometime over the next few days to begin the transition process. Pending her appointment by the Board of Education, Tammy will formally begin her new position on July 7th. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Tammy Ghirardi to Westorchard School.
